Warehouse Apprenticeships

Introduction To Warehouse Apprenticeships
Have you ever wondered where all the foods in supermarkets are stored before they make it as far as the supermarket shelves? Or where all the clothing is stored before it makes it to the racks and shelves of your favourite fashion store? Or where goods are stored before they’re loaded onto ships, freight trains or the lorries you see on motorways?

This is all part of the supply chain that keeps a whole host of products moving not just around the United Kingdom but also internationally as goods are imported and exported. Storage and warehousing is a vital part of the supply chain industry and if being a part of this huge machine floats your boat, then Apprenticeship warehouse jobs could be perfect for you.
How Do Warehouse Apprenticeships Vary?
First up, what you need to know is, once you have done warehouse operative jobs as an Apprentice, whichever type of environment you have worked in, you will complete your Apprenticeship with exactly the same qualifications as someone who has done Warehouse Apprenticeships in a completely different place.

The beauty of Apprenticeships is you get paid to earn while you learn, you gain nationally recognised qualifications and your skills and behaviours learned in training will equip you to work in any type of warehousing and storage environment.

Where Apprenticeships will vary is the place where you are doing warehouse operative jobs and your employer. You could be working in factories with warehouses attached. You could be working in designated central distribution centres for large companies or shipping ports with storage areas. Other warehouse operative jobs could be in warehouses that store goods for mail order companies where there is no high street store and you are looking after individual orders. And the list is endless when it comes to the types of goods you could be storing.

As you can probably imagine, Warehousing and Storage Apprenticeships will see you working varied shift patterns. If a 9 to 5, monday to Saturday job is just not for you, you will love warehouse jobs. Warehouse operative duties include weekend work, evenings, night shifts, working under pressure to receive and store goods quickly and efficiently. Working under pressure to make sure goods exit the warehouse on time, ready for transportation.

Picking and packing and using appropriate machinery where necessary. You will also use your IT skills to monitor stock. No time for boredom with warehouse jobs!
