The Apprentice Parts Advisor coordinates all parts sales to ensure that customers and Technicians are always able to have the parts they require when they need them.
This involves:
- Using the company’s sophisticated computer system to log stock movements and produce orders
- Liaising with colleagues and customers.
- Developing selling skills to improve parts sales performance and dealing with enquiries from both trade and retail customers.
Your advanced apprenticeship will last approximately 2 years. During this time you will attend block release training at the ProVQ Training Centre in Shrewsbury for 12 weeks. For the remaining weeks you will be working full time in a vehicle parts supply centre.
A competent Parts Advisor has many transferable skills. It is not uncommon for Parts Advisors to progress through the ranks to become Assistant Managers, Managers, Regional Managers etc.
No formal qualifications are required but you must be literate and numerate. Modern logistic support processes and systems are highly complex and you must have a desire to become a first rate Parts Advisor.
You should also be prepared to learn Maths, English, ICT, if required.
