Job Description


  • The role of the apprentice will be varied and will include developing sports provision across the school that engages the students in order for them to develop a lifelong passion for sport.

  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support pupils across PE lessons, lunchtime and after school clubs, as well as some classroom lessons, working with small groups and on a one-to-one basis as required.

  • This is a fantastic opportunity to take your first steps into a school that values the importance of Physical Education and School Sport as a key part of any pupils’ Primary School experience! The shadowing of experienced staff will provide a unique opportunity to learn from knowledgeable practitioners and teaching staff.

  • You will be supporting individuals in small groups and on a one-to-one basis by differentiating activities to meet pupil needs.

  • Aassisting teaching staff in the setting up and clearing away of resources in lessons and during PE activities

  • Inspiring pupils through the creation of a fun and inclusive learning environment sessions/activities under the guidance of teaching staff.

  • You ensure safe practice is adheres at all times during the Physical Education Curriculum. Additional administrative duties and tasks will be required as you progress within the role.


Personal Qualities :

Patience, enthusiasm, tolerance and kindness will all be traits sought in the successful candidate, and will be crucial for engaging and supporting all pupils from year 1 to year 6 throughout the school. Your love for sport should be encouraging to all pupils to participate in sport, whilst simultaneously providing a safe and inclusive learning environment at all times.



The successful applicant will need to be organised, have good communication skills, flexible, a good team player and extremely hard working.



Skills Required :

Experience of working within a coaching or educational context would be advantageous, however a determination to see young people succeed is of the utmost importance.



The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a charisma and passion for sport that can act as motivation and inspiration for pupils in striving towards their full potential.

Upon completion of the 12 month apprenticeship, the successful candidate will be well placed to secure a long-term career in coaching and/or education, with opportunities to progress onto degree level study.
