Job Description

As an apprentice gas engineer, you will gain experience and qualifications to become a fully qualified engineer, ensuring where possible work is completed on the first visit and to the appropriate service standard. You will learn how to carry out boiler installations, annual servicing and gas repairs on a wide range of domestic gas boilers within our customers’ homes.



Your duties will include:




  • Assisting Gas Engineers in carrying out gas installation, responsive repairs and maintenance work on domestic properties

  • Ensuring excellent customer service and high standards of gas safety

  • To develop your skills to explain fully to policy holders what work is required, whether reinstatement is covered and what will happen next.

  • To learn to advise our customers after the completion of each job the outcome and any recommendations including necessary required additional work

  • Treat our Customers property has if were your own. Make sure you leave the Customers property as you have found it, clean away all debris and waste from site.

  • Be a positive part of gaining Customer feedback and play an active role in ensuring our processes are effortless

  • To undertake all allocated work in accordance with company Health & Safety policy, including wearing the correct PPE at all times and reporting all accidents or ‘near misses’ to the Safety team and your Area Service Manager

  • To contribute to a team spirit that is conducive to Homeserve and its’ customers

  • To create a favourable and professional image in respect of Homeserve to customers, insurance companies, colleagues and the general public at all times

  • To clean away all debris and waste from site

  • To ensure possession of all necessary goods, tools and equipment to complete all assigned work

Skills Required :

  • Must be able to approach and resolve problems logically

  • Good listening skills

  • You must hold a provisional or full UK driving licence or be willing to gain one within a set period of time as, after a mentoring period, you will be provided with a vehicle to make site/home visits.



Future Prospects : Following successful completion of your apprenticeship there may be the opportunity to apply for a full time role within HomeServe
