Job Description
As an apprentice site carpenter you will observe and learn to take measurements and calculate sizes and amounts of materials. You will learn to read and understand drawings. Work on the installation of timber fixes and fittings, door and window frames, roof trusses and wall partitions, floor joists and boards and kitchen and bathroom units. You will learn to use all tools associated with the trade in a safe way and build good working relationships with the team.
Personal Qualities :
You should be hard working and flexible. Have a positive attitude and a desire to complete your work to the highest possible standard.
Skills Required :
The successful candidate should be able to listen to and understand instructions and work well within a team. You should have a good eye for detail and good hand eye coordination. An ability to complete physical work outside and sometimes at height is important.
Future Prospects : If you are successful in completing your intermediate apprenticeship you may have the opportunity to begin an advanced apprenticeship, or you may choose to work independently as a qualified carpenter.
