Job Description

Initially the role would involve practical hands on skills such as:




  • Setting up new equipment and initial set ups (Windows, Mac etc.).

  • Fielding and dealing support calls for desktop troubleshooting.

  • Being involved in basic server work, new account creation.

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software systems.

  • Diagnosing and solving computer software/hardware faults.

  • Testing of all computer systems as appropriate.

  • Ability to diagnose and problem solve computer problems.

  • Replacement of faulty parts and testing all equipment.

  • Install software and perform tests on computer equipment and programmes.

  • Understanding of hardware/software operating systems.

  • Knowledge of basic computer programs.

  • Familiar with electronic equipment, internet applications and security required.

  • Check all cables and chargers working.

  • Test all hard drives.

  • Able to wipe hard drives.

  • Remove damaged/non-working parts from PCs.

  • Replace damaged parts with working parts from recycling of other PCs.

  • Check and test in working order.

  • Ensure product is of excellent standard.

  • Removing equipment and reinstalling.

  • Placing of scrap in correct area for disposal.



As the role and the learning progresses, the more capable the apprentice is the more work and projects they can pick up and take control of.

  • Excellent telephone manner, rapid learning capabilities with a flexible analytical approach.

  • Must possess a positive attitude and be a team player.

Future Prospects : On successful completion of the apprenticeship the employer would potentially be looking to offer a full time contract.
