Job Description
The Apprentice will be a junior greenkeeper within an established team of 4 existing greenstaff.
The greenstaff are responsible for the maintenance of 150 acres of grasslands, sports turf and woodland areas, as well as small scale horticulture with flower beds etc around the clubhouse. The successful applicant will have a collective responsibility with the rest of the team for the overall presentation of the course and will have specific areas of responsibility for certain areas.
They will report directly to the Head Greenkeeper and will be supervised by other greenstaff at various times.
- Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not exclusive to: Cutting of rough, semi-rough, banks, tees and fairways
- Aeration and scarification of turf
- Monitoring and treatment of pests and diseases
- Litter picking and collection
- Maintenance of bunkers
- Strict adherence to health and safety
- Maintenance of trees and shrubbery Good customer service
The position is a 40 hour week over a full 12 month period. November/December/January/February are 6 hour days (plus breaks) and March - October are 9 hour days (plus breaks).

Skills Required :
Computer literate. Good customer service skills
Future Prospects : The past 3 apprentices have all completed their training and been employed as full time greenkeepers once they have qualified. I expect the successful candidate to have the same opportunity. My Head Greenkeeper started and did his apprenticeship here and was promoted through the levels to become head greenkeeper.
