This Birmingham Primary school are seeking to appoint a University Graduate, with a degree in Speech and Language Therapy, to support their pupils. The school is committed to removing any boundaries to pupils learning that may be derived from speech or language difficulties. As a Speech and language therapist Teaching Assistant you will take an active role in supporting and helping students develop their language, social and academic skills, both on a 1 2 1 basis and in groups.

The school is a large primary based in the heart of Birmingham and is easily reachable by car or public transport. The school has excellent facilities both relating to learning and leisure which support the development of pupils learning and social skills. The school is lucky to boast an inspirational Head Teacher who strongly believes in providing the highest level of education to all her pupils.

The role of a speech and language therapist within the school includes

Assessment of the communication difficulty. This may include discussion with the parent to gain information on the child s language and communication.
Providing active support to school staff and working collaboratively with parents and teachers.
Contributing to reviews of a child s progress including annual reviews for children who have a statement.
Training teachers and support staff in methods to improve communication in specific pupils.
