Job Description
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Identify and control the risks of environmental conservation activities and ensure that the requirements of Tees Valley Wildlife Trust's Health and Safety at work policies and procedures are followed at all times.
- Organise and maintain tools and equipment.
- Maintain effective communication methods within operational relationships.
- Establish and conserve wildlife habitats.
- Manage vegetation using a range of cutting machinery.
- Plan and design signs and panels for the purpose of environmental interpretation.
- Undertake practical management of ponds and wetlands.
- Collate training evidence and complete qualification portfollios.
- Comply at all times with policies and procedures on Equal Opportunities and Green Housekeeping.
- Other such duties in keeping with the general aims of the post as may be determined by the line manager from time-to-time.

Essential skills:
- Good team working skills.
- Motivation and commitment to take forward a career in environmental conservation.
- Readiness to undertake challenging, practical hands on activity.
- Enthusiasm to take part in an educational training programme.
- Willingness to train alongside volunteers and other members of the community.
- Willingness to train outdoors in all weathers and on difficult terrain.

- An active interest in wildlife conservation.
- The ability to enthuse others.
- A good level of practical fitness.
Skills Required :
Essential skills:
- Good verbal and written communication skills with an open and friendly manner.
- An ability to understand and follow instruction.
Desirable skills:
- Experience in communicating with people from different section of society.
- Experience in practical wildlife conservation and green space management.
- Awareness of health and safety and equal opportunities.
Future Prospects : On completion the successful application may have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 3 qualification.
