Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Membership Assistant based in Kegworth to join a dynamic Membership Services team at the Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers (IGEM).



IGEM is a Professional Engineering Institution, licensed by the Engineering Council, supporting 4000 individual members ranging from Students to Chartered Engineers and 230 company members in the gas industry, through continuing education, training, development and operational safety standards.



We are looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to support the recruitment and retention of members, the membership renewal process and provide administrative support to ensure that both members and potential new members receive a high quality membership service.



The role is predominantly office based, however there may be opportunities for travel to events from time to time, for those who wish to expand their role. The role is very varied and includes advising individuals how to apply and which grade, administering applications, processing subscription payments, delivering a high level of customer service and maintaining the CRM database.



Main Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Provide first point of contact for all membership related enquiries by telephone or email in a fast and courteous manner, including queries about using the online member portal, renewals, upgrades and accessing member benefits

  • Maintain the CRM as an accurate reflection of members details, and any correspondence with them

  • Provide administrative support to the members including preparing and sending correspondence, membership cards, scheduling interviews, and support the annual renewal process

  • Build strong relationship with members and encourage proactive engagement in the institution, through excellent communication skills

  • Provide advice and support to members on their professional progression

  • Undertake proactive contact (phone and email) to promote membership and professional registration

  • Generate new ideas and implement ways to better utilise the CRM, to increase membership volume, satisfaction and engagement

  • Manage and develop processes to contribute to an efficient membership function

  • Provide support to other team members as required

  • Process all payments and produce receipts and membership cards



To provide secretarial and clerical support to the Head of Membership Services and perform other related duties commensurate with the post
