Job Description

We are looking for a Business Administration Apprentice who is reliable, polite, well organised and prepared to work as a member of a small but very busy team whilst showing initiative where required. 



With this role comes with a number of responsibilities, no two days are the same ensuring you are not only challenged but will also come to understand the company overall.



The role will include:




  • Providing office support to board members, staff, members and customers.

  • Record keeping using paper, electronic files and emails.

  • Maintaining customer records on a bespoke customer database.

  • Interacting with members, customers, government organisations, suppliers and board members via the telephone, email or in person.

  • Invoicing customers, carrying out financial transactions via PDQ equipment.

  • Collating data and inputting data into excel spreadsheets.

  • Mailing out newsletters, journals and other material when required.

  • Receiving post and distributing accordingly.

  • Assisting with the production of material including typesetting newsletters/Journal using InDesign software.

  • Sending faxes and emails and ensuring safe destruction of confidential waste.

  • Preparation of meeting room at the premises for CPD training and Board meeting including helping with the catering arrangements.

  • Assisting with the preparation of material for CPD courses.

  • Participation in office meetings including feedback on current projects and discussing issues as they arise.

  • Adhere to the organisation’s confidentiality policy.

  • Assisting with the ordering of stationery and consumables.

  • Occasional manual handling of equipment/stock will be required.

  • Helping to keep the office environment clean and safe.



With this role comes with a number of responsibilities, no two days are the same ensuring you are not only challenged but will also come to understand the company overall.



The role is varied and each day will be different.  Priorities are always changing and working remotely with Board members can throw up its own kind of challenges. 



There will be the opportunity to learn all aspects of the work carried out by BCVA HQ. Some nights away from home may be required when attending conferences and this may include some weekend work. 



We are based in Quedgeley in the Business Park which is easily accessible through public transport links and on regular bus routes so getting to us will not be an issue.


Personal Qualities :

  • Flexible positive attitude with the ability to respond to changing priorities quickly and effectively.

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.



Skills Required :

  • Proficient in IT especially Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook.

  • Ability to use internet browser efficiently and appropriately.

  • Good accurate data input skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Accurate numeracy skills.

  • Good attention to detail.

  • Driving licence – this is preferable but not essential.



Future Prospects : Possibility of full time permanent employment.
