Job Description
The apprentice will be required to:
• undertake delegated work of the multidisciplinary team to assist in the provision of individualised planned patient care under indirect supervision.
• use a degree of initiative to ensure patient’s personal needs are met, and the patient’s condition is reported to qualified staff.
• assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment, by ensuring orderliness and hygiene and safety of the ward/department
• gain competencies in skills specific to the role and department
At all times ensuring a high standard of care is delivered to patient’s carers and visitors and a kind, caring and professional attitude whilst considering dignity, privacy, cultural and religious needs is maintained.
DIMENSIONS
• To work as a member of the ward / department team
• Will work on a shift rota which is determined by service requirements but conforms to working time regulations
• No budgetary responsibility
• No direct management responsibility
• Regularly handles patients’ valuables and money
Personal Qualities :
Essential:
• Have responsibility for their personal development and completion of the Level 3 Clinical Healthcare Apprenticeship
• To get on well with people at all levels, communicate and work effectively as a team member
Skills Required :
Essential:
• Clear verbal communication and written skills
• Basic IT skills
• Be courteous when talking to colleagues, patients, their families and visitors and to treat everyone with dignity and respect.
• Knowledge of physical and psychological needs of people
• Ability to work on own initiative, independently and as part of a team
