Job Description
We are seeking a positive and enthusiastic Finance Apprentice looking for their first step into a permanent career working within all areas of Finance and Accounts. This role is working for a large, education based organisation in York and you will not only have the opportunity to enter into your AAT Apprenticeship; you will also receive excellent in-house professional training and development to ensure your success within the role.
The main purpose of this role is to work as part of the Finance team in providing an efficient and effective financial service to the company. The successful Finance Assistant will gain experience across most areas of finance including, sales, purchase and nominal ledgers, financial and management accounts. You will be given the opportunity to study for your AAT qualification through a recognised Level 2 Apprenticeship with York College.
You role will develop over time to support the Finance team in the following functions:
Processing sales orders/invoices/credits/receipts, including banking amounts received
Processing purchase orders/invoices/expense claims/credits/payments, including cheque, BACS and credit card payments
Administering petty cash receipts and payments, including control of petty cash floats
Bank reconciliations
Maintaining customer and supplier records
Undertaking credit control
Preparation of accounts journals
Assistance in development of accounting system, processes and reporting
Preparing and maintaining spreadsheet analyses
Printing, photocopying and file management of financial information
Dealing efficiently with internal/external accounts enquiries and information requests
The successful Finance Assistant will be educated to GCSE level English and Maths grade A-C Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office Excel and Word, excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail as well as a positive and enthusiastic manner with well-developed interpersonal and communications skills.
The role is full time (37 hrs per week) and salary will be commensurate with your age ie; 4.20/hr under 18, 7.23 over 25 years of age.
