Fast food chicken specialist Popeyes is creating 2,000 new full and part time jobs across the UK this year as the chain expands to even more locations across the country.

The popular food outlet has plans to open 15 new restaurants in the UK this year, and will create an average of over 130 jobs with each new launch.

The chain has already opened 18 new branches in the first six months of 2024 and will almost match that total in the rest of the year.

Considering that Popeyes only opened their first UK branch in 2021, the company’s expansion in the last three years is pretty impressive - and has created hundreds of jobs for students in towns and cities across the country.

We don’t have details of every new Popeyes location set to open this year, but some confirmed new branches include venues in Aberdeen, Belfast, Dartford, Luton, Manchester, Nottingham, Watford and Wimbledon.

Announcing the expansion plans across various parts of the UK, Popeyes Chief Executive Officer, Tom Crowley, said: “In just 30 months our remarkable Popeyes UK team has secured a pipeline of 50 top-tier new sites, including our first ever Northern Irish location which opens in Belfast very soon.”

“Currently, Popeyes UK is the fastest-growing chicken QSR brand in the UK, with a 125 per cent year-on-year growth from May 2023 to May 2024. Such sustained demand for Popeyes in the UK is incredible, but not unexpected.”

“We've seen overnight queues for almost every opening since our UK launch in 2021, with fried chicken fans turning up to queue over 24 hours before the opening of new Popeyes restaurants. We remain committed to our expansion plans and look forward to achieving new milestones in the upcoming years,” said the CEO.
