Graduate Building Surveyor/Graduate Quantity Surveyor

Job Title: Graduate Building Surveyor/Graduate Quantity Surveyor Qualifications: Relevant Degree to entitle APC process Experience: Newly qualified Graduates may have placement experience in a similar sector. Graduates may have 1-2 years' experience in their specialist sector.

* New graduates with less than 12 months relevant industry experience, following obtaining an RICS accredited undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

* Non-cognitive graduates with a degree in any field, currently enrolled (or enrolling) on an RICS post graduate qualification, full or part time.

* Typically, in most instances, the Graduate job title will be superseded once the employee has completed 12 months full time employment following obtaining their RICS accredited undergraduate or post graduate qualification, and is performing the base functions of a Building/Quantity Surveyor job role. Job Purpose: Assist more experienced colleagues on a full range of work while working towards gaining a professional qualification. Graduates are expected to improve in their role, show initiative and take more responsibility and project ownership as they develop. Key Responsibilities:

* Provide assistance to Chartered Building Surveyors/Associates with the day to day activities on projects

* Assist in a variety of surveys and inspections

* Prepare and produce site meeting minutes, specifications for works, tender and contract documents

* Assist Chartered Building Surveyors/Associates in their role when acting as Employer's Agent and Contract Administrator

* Analyse site activities; prepare progress reports on time, quality and cost of projects

* Providing any other necessary assistance to enable the successful completion of the team's instructions

* Giving support and guidance to trainee surveyors within the team

* Driving towards their APC goals through developing their profile and skillset at work Key Competencies: Business/Operating Skills: Planning & Organising - understands how business planning activities contribute to the achievement of the company's objectives. Uses time effectively and efficiently; follows through on commitments; good time management and demonstrates a flexible approach. Managing Workflow - clearly and comfortably delegates routine tasks to Trainees; shares both responsibility and accountability; trusts people to perform and guides less experienced team members. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the principles, behaviours and dynamics of working in a team. Judgement - makes timely, informed decisions that take into account the facts, goals, constraints, and risks. Can explain the rationale for a decision. Functional/Technical Learning - working towards APC pathway and meeting at least the mandatory competencies as set out by the RICS. Must attend CPD sessions on a regular basis and share learning with colleagues. Understands and can deal with the inception stage of a project and have an awareness of all main standard forms of contract. Displays an ongoing commitment to learning and self-improvement. Customer Focus - to gain knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of customer care including the concept of identifying the behaviours that are appropriate to establish good client relationships. Personal & Interpersonal Skills: Effective Communication - demonstrates knowledge and understanding of effective oral, written, graphic and presentation skills including the methods and techniques that are appropriate to specific situations.
